Liberty Stay

Concept of the Work

Beginning of the creative process of a 100x70 cm charcoal artwork by an emerging artist.

When I began this work, I found myself immersed in a whirlwind of unsettling emotions. As a woman, I have felt the suffocating pressure of devaluation—that feeling of being trapped in an invisible prison where freedom is just a distant dream. I have often felt that nobility, the right to be recognized and respected simply for existing, was denied to me, unreachable. These dark yet necessary emotions were the starting point for this creation.

In my technique, each charcoal stroke is an act of transmutation. The emotions of lacking freedom and power that tormented me became the essence of this piece. The woman who emerges in the scene, with her sensual and confident posture, is a reflection of the transformation I sought. Here, fragility is not weakness; it is a bridge to inner peace, a manifestation of the strength that lies in accepting our own vulnerability. By resting her hand on the face of the horse, a symbol of freedom and power, this woman reclaims herself. Her gaze meets that of the viewer, and in that encounter, a serenity is revealed, contrasting with the insecurities that once consumed her.

Process

The natural setting, a Liberty Stay representing the passage of time and the permanence in a state of being, becomes a refuge of peace. The golden glimmers that sprinkle the work are a reflection of the deep longing for nobility—a right every woman possesses from the moment she is born, but that, in this scene, is reclaimed with a firm and serene gaze.

This piece is a silent declaration of empowerment. It is a reminder that freedom, peace, and strength are our natural state, and that, by facing the viewer, we invite them not only to see but to feel and expand those emotions that, although initially painful, transform into a serene and powerful beauty. As you contemplate this work, I want you to feel how those emotions expand within you, reminding you that, like the woman in this scene, you too are deserving of that innate peace and freedom.
